Misty Mountain
Furniture: Chris Park and John Edwards started the company
in 1991 both having previously attended University of Idaho and later
working together as carpenters and musicians. The
company started out small, as most do, with Chris and John doing
all aspects of furniture production, marketing and sales for the
first few years and has steadily grown. Today the company employs
12 full time people… or extended family as they see it. This
close knit group of craftspeople, sales staff, administrators and
apprentices all work toward the common goals of continual improvement
in the way we build our products, work together as a team, communicate
with each other and our customers and derive as much pleasure, pride
and satisfaction from our work as is humanly possible.
Located
in the beautiful Sandpoint, Idaho, our manufacturing facility
and showroom reside in a historic, turn-of-the-century railroad warehouse
building that Chris, John and crew completely refurbished in 1999.
The building has great rustic appeal with a genuine covered boardwalk,
tin roof, barnwood siding, log timbers, and circular sawn beams. The
woodshop is located behind our gallery and there are big windows where
you can see the craftsmen working on their various projects.
We are
proud to be 100% American made, and we build everything on site using
primarily local resources. Very easy to find, Misty Mountain is located
on the northwest corner of the main intersection in Sandpoint, 5th
and Cedar. Please visit, we’d love to show you our showroom and
shop.

John
Edwards Owner & Master Craftsman
John
moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in the 1980’s, bought some
beautiful acreage and set up his solar and wind powered home.
His wife, Mesha, keeps him fit and flexible with her yoga practice.
John’s primary focus at Misty Mountain is shop management,
furniture design and sales. He also heads up our cabinet department
and custom door department. His fine-tuned skill in designing
and orchestrating wood working projects has been a driving
force behind our efficient shop and quality craftsmanship.
John is an active outdoorsman who derives great pleasure from
casting a well-placed dry fly, mountain biking on smooth single
track, skiing the untracked powder of the backcountry and hoisting
the mainsail on his sailboat. Also an avid musician, John plays
guitar, bass, and mandolin.
“Starting the company in 1991 involved going to a variety of trade shows
to develop our initial customer base. Many of those original customers have
stayed with us over the years and have helped promote our business through
their friends and associates. Word of mouth has been very good for Misty Mountain
and reinforces our belief in quality craftsmanship and customer service.

Chris
ParkOwner, Designer & Craftsman
Chris
grew up in Colorado and moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1988. He and
his wife, Liz, built their post and beam, straw bale home in 1996.
Three different creeks surround the property and their off-the-grid
home is powered by a hydro-turbine. Currently, at Misty Mountain
Chris works in sales, marketing and furniture design. Chris also
heads up our railing team, wood flooring department and website development.
Chris loves to spend time in the mountains skiing the backcountry,
mountain biking, backpacking and hiking. On the lake he relishes
a fast sail on his Hobie 16’ catamaran. Also and avid musician,
Chris plays guitar, banjo and saxophone.
“I really enjoy being involved in this company, working with
a great group of motivated, creative people is hard to beat. In this
day and age when so much manufacturing is being done overseas or
by larger and larger companies, I see that what Misty Mountain is
doing by working with local people, using local resources, staying
involved in our local community and focusing on quality products
that have a real handmade, human touch is becoming more and more
unique. This is a source of both pride and satisfaction for me.” |

she manages the over 80 consignment artists featured in the
Misty Mountain gallery and continues to work in sales and

relaxing in their wood-fired hot tub by the creek.
“I was truly inspired when I would come into Misty Mountain and see all
of the beautiful, handcrafted furniture, cabinetry and other woodwork. Over
time I’ve developed a great appreciation for how Misty Mountain promotes
pride in craftsmanship, the use of local materials and strong support of local
artists. I love hearing customers say “WOW” when they walk through
our front door into the showroom because I know they’re feeling inspired

Ben
RegierCraftsman:
Ben
joins us from across the Montana border, having moved to Sandpoint
in 2003. After four years of college in Ohio, six months’ study
in France, and 3 months’ travel in Australia, he landed
in Sandpoint with his wife Alysoun. Here at Misty
Mountain, Ben is in charge of the packaging and palletizing
of furniture to be shipped, as well as some building and finish
work in the shop. Here he enjoys the wonderful surrounding
lake and mountains, and plays competitive billiards locally.
“I have been looking for a place for myself in the world. Here
in Sandpoint and at Misty, I found not only a job, but people and a mind set
that make me feel at home. I continue to improve my woodworking skills,
but I feel I have brought a part of myself into the shop that adds to its strength
even as it has added to my knowledge.” |
Mike
Murray Craftsman:
Mike
has been crafting furniture for Misty Mountain since early
2000. Originally from Minnesota, Mike spent his entire adult
life in Idaho, first in the Sawtooths and now in the Selkirks.
He moved to Sandpoint with his wife and daughter in 1998
from Coeur d’Alene where he built log homes and was
a finish carpenter. They were drawn to Sandpoint by its sense
of community, the area’s natural beauty and ski area.
Mike, too, is an avid skier and mountain biker, and is busy
turning his young daughter on to his favorite past-times.
Mike takes pride in his work and Misty Mountain has given
Mike the opportunity to exercise his passion for woodworking.
“I really enjoy the challenge of crafting high quality custom wood pieces,
like cabinets and doors. Everything I make I hope will last forever, and has
something of me left in it. I also really appreciate my co-workers and our work
environment. While we value fine craftsmanship, we also care about each other.” |
Darryl
Aubrey Sales and Marketing:
Darryl
came to us from the corporate world as an office space manager
and Ergonomist (yes there is such a thing, were not sure
what it is yet though). Darryl has a passion for turning
the sales process into an educational process. Darryl
has over 15 years of experience in purchasing, designing
and inspecting custom designed furniture, this experience
translates very nicely into assisting customers with their
custom needs. Sandpoint is Darryl’s kind of town, he
definitely prefers the smaller town environments and the
lake and mountains make it his idea of true paradise. He
is a craftsman at heart finishing his own house here in Sandpoint. “I’m
a lifelong student of Economics and Marketing, I enjoy being
part of the Misty Mountain family and derive a deep satisfaction
in being a part of what we do. Creating economic growth for
the community as a manufacturer and improving the quality
of life is a nice way to spend my time. I truly am
a craftsman at heart and love the furniture we build!” |
